Manatee County officials Tuesday will unveil recommended plans for new baseball fields for the North River Little League during a press conference today at 3 p.m. at McKechnie Field.
"Over the summer the county has been evaluating the costs and construction timetables involved under two scenarios being considered: remediate land that was exposed to chemical pesticides in years past, then build new Little League fields atop that land; or build new softball fields at Bennett Park in East Manatee, then converting the softball fields at Blackstone into Little League regulation fields," the county said in a news release.
The recommended choice will be revealed at the press conference, and then presented formally at a regular meeting of the Manatee County Commission meeting on Sept. 11.
The announcement will be a few hours before the Bradenton Marauders host North River American Little League Night at McKechnie. The Little League will receive $3 of every pre-purchased $5 ticket for the Marauders game.
