Manatee County is under a tropical storm watch as Tropical Storm Isaac continues to make its way through the Caribbean Sea, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The watch was issued as of 11 a.m. EDT. A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the first tropical storm force winds are expected, according to the Hurricane Center.
The watch area extends from Bonita Beach to Tarpon Springs. Areas south of Bonita Beach, as well as the Florida Keys and Florida Bay, remain under a hurricane warning.
As of 11 a.m., Isaac was 40 miles east of Guantanamo, Cuba, or 385 miles south-southeast of Nassau, Bahamas. Maximum winds were 60 mph, and the storm was moving northwest at 17 mph.-There were also tropical storm watches and warnings and hurricane watches on parts of the east coast of Florida.
