MANATEE -- From Monday, May 14 through Saturday, May 19, the Manatee County Public Library System will hold a one-time Fine Forgiveness Week. This consists of three opportunities:
-- Any overdue items still in good condition returned that week will not receive fines, even if the items are long overdue.
-- Anyone with fines or lost/damaged item fees already outstanding on their library cards prior to May 14 may bring in charitable donations of food, toiletries, or pet items to clear the fines.
-- Anyone with fines or fees whose library card account has been sent to debt collections can pay a $10 fee plus a charitable donation to clear his/her account.
Return overdue items directly to a staff member, so your account can be cleared and updated. You may sign up for a replacement library card at this time, at no cost.
Do not return overdue items in the bookdrops this week.
Items returned after 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 are not eligible.
Donations will be collected at the libraries and given to Hope Family Services, The One Stop Resource Center, and the Humane Society. Examples of donations accepted include nonperishable food items, boxes of diapers, laundry detergent, shampoo, deodorant, and dog or cat food. Please contact your library branch for more details.
