12/12 GALLERY: That dream season

It was a legendary night this past Friday for the Palmetto Tigers football team, and everything was in its proper place as they rushed to take the field, breaking through the traditional paper banner to the cheers of a standing-room-only hometown crowd while flanked by cheerleaders and the marching band at the start of Friday night’s Class 5A state semifinal against Miami Norland. And though they fell just one yard short, making for a heartbreaking loss as the clock hit zero, it was still a seminal night for the Tigers, who earned their way to the state semifinals for the first time since the program lost in the 1986 state title game.

Congratulations to all the hard-fighting Tigers players, coaches and supportive classmates and fans who helped make it happen. Here’s to next year and another dream season!
