Surrounded by the calm waters of Wares Creek in Bradenton, Ken and Jen Wallace glide silently through reflections of DeSoto Towers. Within the next several months, the waters of the historic creek are set to be teeming with crew from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a massive $45.5 million dredging project gets under way. The project will focus on dredging, widening and
stabilizing the banks of the flood-prone waterway. The small, three-mile creek stretches from the Manatee River to Cortez Road and offers one of downtown Bradenton’s most scenic features.
