BRADENTON — The owner of a Bradenton pharmacy was robbed Thursday morning, but he ran after the suspect and held her down until authorities arrived and arrested her, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Kimberly Clowes, 31, of Bradenton, went into The Prescription Shop, 5332 26th St. W., walked up to the counter with a handgun and presented the owner with a note, the report said.
The owner gave her three bottles of oxycodone and one bottle of another drug. Clowes took the bottles and fled toward Garden Walk Condos, the report said. The owner called 911 and chased after Clowes with one of his employees, according to the report.
Clowes attempted to consume a handful of the pills, but the employee was able to knock most of them out of her hands. She was restrained until a deputy arrived to arrest her. No one was injured.
Palmetto Police investigate possible kidnapping
PALMETTO — Palmetto Police continue to investigate a possible child abduction after a 9-year-old boy told police Wednesday evening he saw another boy on a bicycle at the intersection of 17th Street and 24th Avenue West get snatched by two men in a four-door silver sedan with tinted windows.
The witness told officers the boy appeared to be struggling. As of Thursday night, police still had no reports of missing children, said Lt. Scott Tyler.
While police canvassed the neighborhood about a mile away from the Manatee County Fairgrounds, a reverse 911 call was not conducted. Police chose not to make the call when Emergency Communications gave an estimate of $5,000 to conduct the call north of the Manatee River. Anyone with any information can contact Palmetto Police Department at 723-4587.
