Deputies arrest suspect in Manatee bank robbery

MANATEE - Manatee authorities say they have arrested one of the two men who robbed a southern Manatee bank earlier this week.

Detectives late Thursday arrested Tony Nealy, 22, of Sarasota in connection with a hold-up Monday at the BB&T Bank branch at 5375 University Parkway, according to a news release from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

"Nealy was developed as a suspect from evidence collected at the scene," the news release states. "A warrant for armed robbery was obtained and Nealy was arrested in Sarasota late last night."

Nealy was being held in the Sarasota County jail.

Detectives said they are working to identify the second suspect. Anyone with information can call the sheriff’s oOffice at (941) 747-3011, ext. 2518 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
