Police search for robbery suspect

MANATEE — Deputies are still searching for a robbery suspect after a 75-year-old man and his wife were robbed as they were leaving hhgregg Tuesday night, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The couple was approached from behind by a lanky thin robber standing 6-feet, 4-inches tall wearing a navy hooded shirt with his hand in his pocket suggesting a handgun, said Lt. Dale Couch.

The man gave the robber his wallet containing seven credit cards and $150 in cash just before 9 p.m. in the parking lot at 4495 14th S. W., he said.

The robber had a partially covered face.

No one was injured in the robbery.

A sheriff’s dog tracked the suspect to York Drive, he said.
