A 16-year girl was raped this morning in the men's restroom at Pride Park, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The girl said she was walking home through the park between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. , when the attacker forced her into the restroom and assaulted her, according to sheriff's Lt. J.T. Sixbey. She had just taken two younger children to Daughtrey Elementary School, which is adjacent to the park near the intersection of Ninth Street East and 63rd Avenue East.
After the attack, the girl walked about six blocks to her home and notified authorities. She was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The sheriff's office was searching for the suspect, described as a black male, 16-17 years old wearing blue jogging shorts, a yellow shirt and black flip-flop sandals. He has short hair and a scar on the left side of his scalp. The suspect was seen fleeing north on Ninth Street East on a green bicycle, according to the sheriff's.

Officials said there were other people in the park, including a county landscaping crew and a chain gang and guards from the Manatee County jail, but nobody reported seeing anything unusual.
