The long-awaited transition of power to the younger generation of Murdochs has accelerated with the impending expected appointment of James Murdoch to become chief executive of 21st Century Fox, with his older brother Lachlan Murdoch taking a larger role as executive chairman.

Fox Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch is expected to relinquish his CEO role at Fox but continue to be actively involved in the company as executive co-chairman, according to a person familiar with the moves but not authorized to discuss them publicly.

The timing of the moves was not immediately clear. Fox's board of directors must approve the changes, which would entrust the operational control of media giant to Murdoch's two sons. The issue is on the board meeting agenda.

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo to step down July 1

Dick Costolo is stepping down as chief executive of Twitter effective July 1, the company said Thursday.

Jack Dorsey, co-founder and chairman of the board, will serve as interim CEO as the board searches for a replacement.

The announcement comes as Costolo was under growing pressure from investors to reverse Twitter's disappointing performance on Wall Street.

SARASOTA -- Crowther Roofing & Sheet Metal will hold a job fair from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday at the CareerSource Suncoast Sarasota Career Center, 3660 N. Washington Blvd.

Crowther Roofing works with developers and builders on construction projects, roof maintenance, roof repair and provides a one-stop shop for roofing and sheet-metal contracting needs. Interviews will be for commercial roofers with pay ranging from $11 to $16 per hour. Training will be provided, although a background in construction is preferred.
