DSW set to open in March
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Sarasota and Bradenton shoe lovers will have to wait about a month more before Designer Shoe Warehouse, or DSW, opens its first area location.
DSW is expected to open its University Town Center location March 19, according to a DSW official.
The Columbus, Ohio-based company, which has more than 400 stores, will move into the 15,988-square-foot-space at 151 N. Cattlemen Road, according to plans.
The men and women's shoe store will be neighbors to Sports Authority in The District West at University Town Center shopping center.
DSW also has stores in Westfield Brandon, Tyrone Square in St. Petersburg and Port Charlotte Town Center.
Newest LA Fitness club set to open in June
BRADENTON -- Manatee County's newest LA Fitness health club will open by early summer.
The club, which is under construction in Cortez Plaza at 1113 Cortez Road W., will open its doors on June 16, according to staff at the company's membership presale office next to the construction site. It will be the California company's fourth club in Manatee County.
Company officials have not been specific about which amenities the club will have. However, Manatee County permit documents show that it will have swimming pool.
Documents show the value of the new building as $4.25 million.
Winter Park-based builder R.D. Michaels Inc. is the general contractor on the job.
LA Fitness operates Bradenton-area clubs at 8502 Cooper Creek Blvd. at the Oakmont Terrace mall on Cortez Road, and at the Creekwood Crossing mall on 52nd Place East. Its newest club replaces a former Publix store that was demolished at Cortez Plaza last year.
ALDI to host hiring event for Bradenton, North Port
SARASOTA -- ALDI plans to host hiring events for its Bradenton and North Port stores on Feb. 17, March 4 and March 12 in support of its growth in the area.
Opportunities within ALDI include store associate, shift manager and manager trainee positions.
The local event will take place over the three days at the Hampton Inn Sarasota, 5995 Cattleridge Blvd. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Store associates earn $11.25 an hour, shift managers $15.25 and manager trainees start at $43,680. Staff members working at least 25 hours a week receive full health insurance, dental coverage and 401K
Applicants must be 18, have a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to lift 45 pounds. There will be a drug screeening and background check.
