ST. PETERSBURG -- St. Pete Clearwater International Airport announced at a news conference Monday that Fort Lauderdale-based Silver Airways is adding service to Fort Lauderdale and Key West.
Silver's website now lists two flights each weekday to Fort Lauderdale starting at $66.20 with one flight per day weekends.
The St. Pete Clearwater International Airpor Key West route is offered once per day starting at $119 with no service Sunday.
The move immediately makes Silver St. Pete Clearwater International Airport's second-most frequent carrier behind Allegiant. The airport is coming off a record year for passenger numbers in 2014.
Silver already operates out of Tampa International Airport. The airline recently announced the introduction of flights there to the Bahamas starting in February.
St. Pete Clearwater International Airport marks Silver's 11th market in Florida. The airline also offers frequent flights to seven airports in the Bahamas and eight in the mid-Atlantic states, the largest of which is Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.
