Paul Gendron has joined Wagner Realty. He graduated from Mortuary College at New England Institute in Boston and served as an emergency medical technician for the Ludlow Fire Department. Gendron owned and operated funeral homes in Ludlow and Chester, Vt. He has been a funeral director for more than 45 years and operates Gendron Funeral Homes in Sarasota and Fort Myers with his son, Michael. He has been a member of many networking groups, including The Hispanic Chamber, Chamber of Commerce, Lions, Elks, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Rotary and Moose.
Tommye Barie of Sarasota is the new chairwoman of the board of directors of the American Institute of CPAs. Barie, 53, was elected to the one-year volunteer post by the AICPA governing council. An accounting graduate of Stetson University, Barie has spent her career as a certified public accountant focusing on audit and consulting services for governmental entities and not-for-profit organizations. She is a past chairwoman of the Florida Institute of CPAs and a member of the Government Finance Officers Association and the Florida Government Finance Officers Association.
Brandon Powers has joined Kerkering, Barberio & Co., certified public accountants, as a manager in the tax segment. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky., and his master's degree in taxation from the University of Cincinnati.

Janice Zarro and Cheryl MacLauchlan have joined the board of directors for Designing Women. Zarro is the former executive director of The Women's Resource Center of Sarasota County. She is a lawyer, the former president of the International Women's Forum Florida Suncoast, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Doctors Hospital. MacLauchlan spent years as a buyer for a chain of women's boutiques in the Midwest. After moving to Florida, she became a buyer for Burdines. She is a member of The Asolo Rep Theatre Guild.
David Verinder, CEO for Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, has been appointed to the Florida Hospital Association's 2014-15 board of trustees. Verinder joined Sarasota Memorial as chief financial officer in 2006 and has served as a key member of the public health system's executive team for eight years. He became chief operating officer in 2010 and CEO this past July.
Steve Hall, an Alltrust senior benefits specialist, has received his certified employee benefit specialist designation by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Hall joined Alltrust in 2010.
