BRADENTON -- Arts & Eats Restaurant and Gallery, 1114 12th St. W., will celebrate its grand opening from noon to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of Manatee. Thee will be a ribbon cutting by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce at noon Nov. 16, performances by local singer/guitarist Joshua Simpson at 5 p.m. and a performance -- benefit for the Creative Percussion Ensemble made up of talented local students -- on Nov. 17. There also will be prizes and giveaways, a small plates menu, and artist demos.
The 1925 chartreuse bungalow has been transformed from a residence to a restaurant and gallery with tin ceiling, golden walls, a sea-themed dining porch, front yard dining and a backyard "park" with a huge banyan tree.
The menu is inspired by the ethnic flavors found on the streets of New York.
