New Manatee County jobs generated thanks to incentives, EDC says

BRADENTON - Manatee County will see 4,199 new jobs generated in the next five years thanks to its ability to offer economic incentives to attract new businesses and encourage existing ones to expand.

That was the message this morning at the Economic Development Council's "Destination Manatee" update breakfast held at Renaissance on 9th.

Since incentives have been offered, 24 new companies have opened up in Manatee and 27 others have expanded, paying 49 percent more than the county's average wage.

"Every day the EDC is chipping away at the recession to reveal glimmers of economic development," said Beth Green, outgoing EDC chair.
