Lakewood Ranch-based TriNet announces layoffs

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- A local human resources firm has laid off about 68 employees from its workforce, company officials confirmed Thursday.

The Lakewood Ranch-based TriNet announced the layoffs Wednesday that included 21 local employees. The remainder of the layoffs will include employees at TriNet’s San Leandro, Calif., office.

“We did some restructuring across the organization (Wednesday) that involved 21 people in Bradenton and it’s really been driven around the evolution of our business, health care reform and some other things going on out there,” said Burton Goldfield, chief executive officer for TriNet.

TriNet has an estimated 800 employees.
