MANATEE — New signs along Cortez Road will soon say Conley Buick GMC.
The longtime Buick dealership became a GMC brand distributor during a formal signing Friday.
“We’re very excited to have GMC along with our Buick and Subaru lines,” said Jeff Conley, owner of the 45-year-old dealership at 800 Cortez Road.
With the addition of the new vehicle line, Conley anticipates increasing his workforce of about 50 by 25 percent over time.
The dealership complex also will be upgraded to comply with General Motors’ national modernization program.
“There’ll be new signs, a new front and updating inside,” Conley said.
There has not been a GMC dealership in Manatee County since the Red Hoagland Pontiac-GMC dealership was closed in December after 27 years of selling automobiles.
The closure was part of the reorganization of GM after it came out of bankruptcy last August.
With the new GMC line of vehicles, Conley will now offer mid-size crossover sports utility vehicles, such as the new Terrain, as well as the full-size crossover, the Acadia.
The Terrain has been a popular vehicle nationally, Conley said, and he has less than a week’s supply in his showroom.
“It’s a great product at a real nice price point,” he said.
