EDC AWARD WINNER: Dentsply honored as business expansion winner

MANATEE — Dentsply Raintree Essix Glenroe made a move in 2005 that has provided the Manatee County manufacturer with new capital investments and more jobs for local residents.

The maker of orthodontic and dental products acquired Raintree Essix, a manufacturer with expertise in injection molding. The Metarie, La.-based manufacturer relocated to Manatee County in July 2008 to join forces with Dentsply at its facility.

As a result of the acquisition, Dentsply was able to increase its workforce by 35 percent by adding 41 new jobs to its operations.

In addition, Dentsply added a $10 million business to its operations by acquiring Raintree Essix.

The positive results of this acquisition and more have earned Dentsply Raintree Essix Glenroe the Manatee County Economic Development Center’s Business Expansion Award for 2009.

Since the integration of Raintree Essix, Dentsply has reported a 100 percent increase in business volume as the company has gone from a $10 million manufacturer to a $20 million company.

The manufacturer also invested 6 percent of its total sales into capital improvements and has added a second facility in Manatee County with the addition of a 16,000 square-foot building in the Parkland Center in Manatee County.

Dentsply also has a facility on 44th Avenue East in Bradenton.

Dentsply believes the long-term benefits of this expansion will be continued and stable growth in Manatee County.

“Our objective is to continue to build our existing infrastructure through lean initiatives and employee development to sustain and grow the organization in the county and the state of Florida,” said Bradford H. Clatt, business unit manager at Dentsply.
