Vehicle stopped for having headlight out backed into Manatee deputy's patrol vehicle.

MANATEE -- A vehicle that had been pulled over for having a headlight out early this morning backed into the Manatee County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle that had made the traffic stop, the sheriff's office reports.

The deputy made the stop about 2:26 a.m. in the 1000 block of 9th Ave E, Palmetto. When the deputy began to approach the vehicle on the driver's side the driver began to back up. The deputy yelled out for the driver to stop but the right rear bumper of the violator's vehicle made contact with the right push bumper of the patrol vehicle. The violator's vehicle sustained damage of about $300 to the rear bumper. The patrol vehicle had no damage.
