Red dye diesel thieves strike East Manatee bulk fuel tank

EAST MANATEE — A large quantity of red dye diesel fuel was stolen from a bulk fuel tank at Farm Op, Inc. in the 12000 block of County Road 39.

Sometime between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, suspects cut the chain on the Farm Op gate, according to a sheriff’s office report.

The suspects then entered the farm with a dual-wheel type vehicle and drove back to the bulk tank, the report states.

The exact amount of fuel taken was not indicated in the report, other than that it was a “large amount.”The suspects left the way they entered and are still at large, the report states.

Authorities are looking for a moving van type vehicle, similar to a U-Haul truck, the report concludes.
