Major accident closes I-95 lanes near Daytona Beach

PORT ORANGE - The Florida Highway Patrol is advising motorists of a major roadway closure in Volusia County. Portions of I-95 northbound are closed.

FHP closed the road this morning after an early morning crash that involved three semi-tractor trailers and one passenger vehicle on I-95, approximately two miles north of State Road 421 and three miles south of Interstate-4.

There is significant road surface damage caused by a fire from the crash, as well as chemicals and diesel that spilled onto the roadway. Southbound I-95 is open, but the northbound lanes will remain closed until officials declare the roadway safe.

Motorists who plan to travel in the area should consider visiting the Florida Statewide 511 website at to seek an alternate route.
