Two victims attacked, one robbed, in Palmetto

MANATEE -- Wearing black clothes and armed with a shotgun and a rifle, two men in their 20s robbed two Palmetto men at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

The victims were sitting on their front porch in the 1400 block of 26th Street Court East, Palmetto, discussing how they would pay their bills, when two suspects wearing masks walked onto their porch, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

One suspect pointed a shotgun at one of the victims and said, “Get on the ground and give me what you got,” the report states.

The other suspect pointed a rifle at the other victim and said, “If you say anything, I will kill you.”

The suspect with the shotgun then hit his victim in the head with the butt of the gun, took approximately $200 and a set of vehicle keys from his pocket, and then struck him again in the head with the gun butt, the report states.

The suspect with the rifle then kicked his victim in the head and both suspects fled westbound on foot, the report states.

A perimeter was set up and a K-9 unit responded.

The area was searched, but the suspects have yet to be found, the report adds.
