1 killed, 4 hurt in Sarasota drive-by

SARASOTA -- One person was killed and four others injured in a drive-by shooting in Sarasota early Saturday, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

At about 2:30 a.m., shots were fired from a Chevrolet pickup near the intersection of 30th Street and Leon Avenue in north Sarasota, according to police.

One of the victims, Naomi M. Clyburn, 22, of Sarasota, died at the scene, police said. She lived in the 1500 block of 30th Street.

Three victims were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A fifth victim was transported to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment of a serious injury.

Witnesses described the vehicle used by the suspects as a blue/green Chevrolet pickup, with custom wheels and dark tinted windows.

Police recovered a vehicle that had been abandoned on Cocoanut Avenue near Highland that matches the description provided by the witnesses, according to the release.

Police released photographs of the truck, hoping someone will come forward with information about what happened.
