Bradenton man charged with raping 2 girls multiple times

MANATEE -- A 42-year-old man has been charged with raping two girls on multiple occasions. One of the girls was 7 when the attacks began and the other was 13, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

David Valone was known to the girls before the attacks began, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Valone, who already was in jail on unrelated charges, faces nine counts of capital sexual battery, 13 counts of sexual battery and four counts of exposing a minor to obscenity.

Investigators say he forced the older girl to watch pornography on a computer. He attacked the girl "almost every day (in) the summer of 2011," the affidavit states.

Based on interviews with the victims, investigators say the attacks started in about March 2010. The most recent attack on the younger girl occurred Oct. 28 and on the older girl, Nov. 2, according to the affidavit.

The next day, on Nov. 3, Valone was charged with trying to run down a sheriff's deputy who was investigating a traffic crash involving Valone.

When investigators Monday filed the sexual battery charges, Valone already was in jail on bonds totaling $57,120 on charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to register a vehicle.

He is being held without bond on the latest charges.
