First Lady Michelle Obama paid a visit to a group of Tampa Bay area school children on Thursday.
The First Lady is scheduled to speak at an event in Tampa and meet with a group of Bay area school children.
Mrs. Obama arrived at Tampa International Airport at 2:15 p.m., where she was greeted by students from St. Petersburg's John Sexton Elementary School.
The school recently received an award from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation for its health and wellness efforts.

School officials said their efforts to provide healthier options for students has paid off.
"Now we have baked chips they can buy and sherbert instead of ice cream,'' said P.E. teacher Jennifer Velez. "Changes like that. They're allowed unlimited fruits and vegetables at lunchtime."
The First Lady will speak at a Democratic National Committee reception this afternoon before traveling to Fort Lauderdale for another event this evening.
