MANATEE -- Showers and possibly thunderstorms are forecast for the Bradenton area for after 2 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
"Deep tropical moisture will stream into west-central and southwest Florida today and tonight, ahead of an area of low pressure moving slowly northeast over the southern Gulf waters," the Weather Service said in a statement Monday morning. "This moisture combined with upper level energy moving across the region within the southwest wind flow aloft will support numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms over the region today and tonight."
The Weather Service said there was a 60 percent chance of rain today, 70 percent tonight and 80 percent on Tuesday.
Thunderstorms today and night will be capable of producing lightning and gusty winds, according to the Weather Service. Gusts tonight and Tuesday could exceed 20 mph.
The forecast calls for a high temperature Monday of 84.
