MYAKKA CITY -- A deer had to be euthanized this morning after it was found injured along the side of Duette Road.
Several motorists called Manatee Sheriff's office to report the injured deer, according to a report. Just after 8:30 a.m., a deputy responded and found the deer at 700 S. Duette Road. But when the deputy got close, the deer tried to get up and run away.
An animal rescue organization responded and said the deer was injured beyond help and needed to be put down, the report said. The deputy received authorization from his supervisor to euthanize the deer, which he did with one gunshot.
