TALLAHASSEE -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott doesn’t think much of a plan being floated by the Obama administration that would delay an increase in un- employment compensa- tion taxes paid by employers.
A Florida House committee, meanwhile, agreed on Thursday to file a bill designed to give employers some tax relief by reducing benefits for jobless workers.
A Scott spokesman says the Obama admin- istration’s proposal would not solve the problems of states high unemploy- ment rates such as Florida.
The proposal would keep the tax in check for the immediate future but employers then could face higher rates in 2014.
