Two women hurt in separate Bradenton burglaries

MANATEE -- Two women were attacked and injured during two separate burglaries in Bradenton on Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

In the first incident, at about noon, a 94-year-old woman confronted two men who had broken into her home in the 6600 block of Connecticut Avenue, in the Whitfield neighborhood in southern Manatee. The intruders knocked her to the ground before fleeing, leaving the woman with minor injuries that paramedics treated at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

About eight hours later, a woman was injured when a single intruder broke into her home in the 500 block of 60th Avenue West.

When the victim refused to hand over her purse, the suspect struck her several times in the face and then fled.

The victim was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening facial injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Nothing in the reports suggests that investigators believe the two break-ins were related.

Anyone with information about these incidents can call the sheriff's office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
