All lanes of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County were reopened at 9:45 a.m. after being closed this morning in both directions between exit 191 (River Road) and Exit 182 (Sumter Blvd.) because of low visibility from fog and smoke from a controlled burn.
Similar conditions may occur late tonight and into Monday, affecting the Monday morning commute. Drivers are advised to expect delays and possible road closures resulting in detours., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP's advice: Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed in relation to visibility and utilize their low beam headlights. Drivers should use turn signals and avoid sudden lane changes.
If there are detours, expect these routes:Southbound traffic: Travel westbound on River Road to U.S. 41 and go south to Sumter Boulevard. Turn east on Sumter Boulevard and return to I-75Northbound traffic: Travel west on Sumter Boulevard to U.S. 41 and go north to River Road. Turn east on River Road and return to I-75
