Thunderstorms douse Manatee but no damage reported

A powerful line of storms dealt Manatee lots of rain and wind, but no major weather damage.

The Manatee ECC was reporting no major weather damage as of midnight, although there was an unconfirmed report of a tornado touching down in Myakka.

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport reported 2 inches of rain from 5 p.m. Tuesday to midnight, according to the National Weather Service. The highest wind gusts hit 40 mph. The strongest sustained winds were clocked at 30 mph at around 2 p.m.

Decreasing clouds are forecast for Wednesday with a high temperature of 64 degrees. Northwest winds are expected between 13 mph and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
