Attempted robbery results in one minor injury in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A man was pistol whipped in the mouth after an unknown man approached his car and demanded money Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s office reports.

The incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of 60th Avenue West, when the two victims said they’d made a wrong turn that landed them in the area, according to a media release.

The male victim was sitting in the passenger seat and was approached by a man who demanded money from him and the female driver, the release said.

When the male victim said he didn’t have any money the suspect pistol whipped him in the mouth, causing a small cut, the release said. The driver then began to drive and the suspect smashed the rear window of the car with his pistol.

The driver then called 911 and both suspects fled on foot, the release said.

While at the scene deputies arrested a man on an unrelated robbery warrant and learned he is related to the suspects in this incident, the release said. Although the man refused to identify them the release said he will be questioned on the suspects while being interviewed for the burglary charges.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the sheriff’s office (941) 747-3011.
