FORT LAUDERDALE -- Gov.-elect Rick Scott has collected $2.8 million private contributions for his inauguration festivities.
The contributions are paying for a seven-city tour last week and a dozen inaugural events today and Tuesday in Tallahassee.
Scott is bringing back a black-tie gala that outgoing Gov. Charlie Crist canceled four years ago.
Crist took in $1.2 million for his ceremonies and gave the leftover $255,000 to four charities.
Former Republican Gov. Jeb Bush raised $2 million.
Scott’s inaugural committee says many of the events are free and open to the public. Any leftover money will go to the Wounded Warrior Project for injured veterans.
