Woman charged with kicking Bradenton officer

MANATEE -- A 35-year-old woman was arrested after she reportedly kicked an officer in the stomach, according to an arrest report.

Ami Piedra of Palmetto was stopped by Bradenton Police officers after she and her boyfriend were arguing in the 500 block of 12th Street West.

Piedra, who had an infant with her in the car, initially told officers they were arguing because they were both too impaired to drive Thursday night.

According to the report, Piedra became belligerent and said she was going to leave and went to get into the car. When an officer told her to stay and tried to restrain her, she began swinging, flailing and kicked the officer in the stomach. The officer was not injured.

Piedra posted a $2,250 bond on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
