Woman robbed at gunpoint in Bayshore parking lot

MANATEE — Two male suspects who robbed a 58-year-old woman at gunpoint while in a parking lot at Bayshore on The Lakes Friday afternoon remain at large, the sheriff’s office reports.

The incident happened in the 2000 block of 38th Avenue West at around 1:30 p.m.

The victim was approached by one of the suspects who pointed a handgun at her head and removed $400 and a cell phone from her pocket, according to a media release.

The suspect then shot several rounds into the air, threw a blunt (marijuana cigarette wrapped in a tobacco leaf) and the victim’s cell phone onto the ground and then fled in a vehicle driven by the other suspect, the release said.

The victim used her phone to call 911, the release stated, and she claimed the suspects had on black masks and gloves. She left the area before deputies arrived.

According to the release a witness said the suspects did not have masks or gloves on and drove around the parking lot before fleeing the scene.
