MANATEE — Firefighters spent over an hour Thursday night extinguishing a mobile home fire in the 500 block of 57th Avenue West, according to Battalion Chief Michael Dechelbor of Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue.
Dechelbor said when firefighters first arrived on scene about 50 percent of the home was engulfed in flames. Three engines from the battalion responded to the blaze and two others were called up later to help out.
The homeowner was not injured in the incident and will be staying with neighbors.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation and a firefighter on scene wanted to remind the public to make sure their smoke alarms work.
