MANATEE — Three masked gunmen who identified themselves as police pulled off a home invasion robbery early Wednesday morning in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
About 3:27 a.m., the intruders pried open a rear door of a residence in the 3200 block of 27th Street East and entered a bedroom occupied by three people, a 28-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and a 6-month-old child. The suspects identified themselves as officers and demanded money, according to a news release.
The woman picked up her baby, ran out of the bedroom screaming and went into another room occupied by another resident, a 30-year-old man. He locked the door and called his boss, who in turn called 911, according to the sheriff’s office.
At least one of the intruders looked through the rest of the house and went into a bedroom occupied by a 25-year-old resident and took an unspecified amount of money.
Before leaving, the intruders took money from another resident and a video game system. They left through the same door they had entered, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspects were described as wearing black sweatshirts with hoods, dark-colored pants, gloves and ski masks. Each was armed with a handgun, according to the release.
