MANATEE — Two people were arrested after they were spotted leaving the scene of a residential burglary in Northwest Bradenton on Tuesday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
A couple had left their home in the 800 block of 65th Street Northwest for a walk and when they returned about 7:30 a.m., they spotted a man getting into a yellow vehicle carrying a large item with a cloth draped over it, according to a news release.
When they entered their home, they realized that they had been burglarized. Witnesses also reported seeing a yellow sports car fleeing the residence with a cover over the license plate, according to the release.
A short time later, the victims’ credit card was used at the BP gas station at 2600 26th Ave. W. The clerk told investigators the card was used by a man and a woman riding in a yellow Hyundai sports car, according to the sheriff’s office.
Several minutes later, a deputy spotted the car on Cortez Road and deputies were able to stop the car and make arrests.
The man was carrying jewelry belonging to the victims, according to the sheriff’s office.The suspects were taken in for questioning, and later they were charged.
Choncey M. Williams, 17, faces charges of grand theft and burglary; and Andrea K. Bilderback, 19, faces charges of burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
