MANATEE — There were no injuries Monday in a head-on collision involving a deputy and a 75-year-old man, the sheriff’s office reports.
The accident happened at the intersection of U.S. 41 and 23rd Street East at around 8 p.m.
According to a report, the deputy was heading southbound on U.S. 41 and attempted to make a left hand turn onto 23rd Street East as another car was heading northbound on U.S. 41.
Both drivers attempted to avoid collision before they struck each other head on, at an angle, the report said.
About $12,000 worth of damage was caused to both vehicles.
