MANATEE — A 23-year-old man was arrested Thursday after admitting to deputies that he stole a television from his father and then pawned it, the sheriff’s office reports.
Chad Wickersham’s father reported a burglary in his Myakka home Monday and told deputies he believed his son had taken a 37-inch Vizio television from him, the report said.
A search of pawn shop sales revealed that Wickersham had sold the television at Cash America Pawn in the 700 block of 10th Street East on Monday, according to the arrest report.
Wickersham had claimed the television was his when he sold it.
In a sworn affidavit, Wichersham’s father said his son did not have permission to take or sell the television.
Wickersham was arrested at 8 a.m. Thursday in the 3600 block of Fourth Avenue East and admitted to the charges, the report said.
He has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, dealing with stolen property and providing false ownership information on a pawned item. He is being held in Manatee County jail on a $9,500 bond.
