MANATEE — A man suffered severe road rash to his face and legs after he ran after a man stealing his motorcycle early Friday morning, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
A man living in the 5300 block of 18th Street Boulevard East went outside in his yard at about 12:30 a.m. when he thought he heard his bike start up. He saw a man take off on his motorcycle, according to the report.
The man, who was intoxicated at the time, ran after the assailant and latched on to the back of the bike. He didn’t let go and was injured when he was dragged along the roadway.
The assailant did not get the motorcycle but was able to get away. The victim returned home with his motorcycle and waited at least an hour before calling deputies, according to the report.
The man was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
