ST.PETERSBURG -- Coastal residents, conservationists, fishermen, hotel owners and other business owners are invited to a town hall meeting at 6 p.m. today with Navy Secretary Ray Mabus.
Mabus is seeking public input on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and its affect on local communities.
President Obama has tasked Mabus with developing a long-term restoration plan for the Gulf, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa.
The town hall meeting will be held at Karen Steidinger Auditorium at the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, University of South Florida, 100 Eighth Ave. S., St. Petersburg.
Castor will join Mabus for the session. The two have previously discussed how to best work together to protect Gulf waters, shores, wildlife and industry, according to the press release.
