Police: Woman nearly robs Bradenton drug store

BRADENTON — A 40-year-old woman was arrested after she attempted to rob a drug store this week, according to Bradenton Police Department.

Melissa J. Holc, of Bradenton, allegedly approached the cashier at CVS, 520 First St. W., and demanded money from the register. She implied she had a gun when she flashed a silver object from her purse just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

The cashier complied with the request until Holc became scared when a customer approached the counter.

She fled the store without any money.

Holc was located a few minutes later by police and confessed to detectives, stating she had financial problems.

The silver item she had flashed was actually a metal pill container, police said.

Holc faces one count of attempted robbery and remained in the Manatee County jail Thursday night on a bond of $10,000.

She was arrested last month on charges including possession of a drug without a prescription and driving with a suspended license, according to the jail website.
