Bradenton man's death being investigated as homicide

MANATEE -- The death of Raymond Montgomery, 60, is being investigated as a homicide, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported today.

Montgomery was found dead around 1:45 p.m. June 24 by family members in the yard of his home in the 7200 block of Manatee Street.

Witnesses say Montgomery left his business, Pops Hood Rich, in the 1400 block of 57th Avenue East shortly after 10 p.m. June 23 and drove an employee to Oneco, the sheriff's office reported.

Montgomery’s vehicle was found abandoned about 8:30 the next morning on Winter Garden Drive.

Detectives are trying to find where he may have gone and who he may have come in contact with between the time he left his business and the time he was found dead at his house.
