Sheriff: Palmetto man, 35, missing since Tuesday may be in danger

MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office was looking for a 35-year-old Palmetto man who has been missing since Tuesday and may be in medical danger, according to a news release.

Earl Brooks Jr. was released from Manatee Memorial Hospital on Tuesday and returned home to the 700 block of 44th Avenue East, Palmetto, to take a nap with his wife because he was tired. When his wife awoke, Brooks was gone, apparently having left in his 2004 Hyundai Sonata, Florida tag # I258NA. However, he left behind his wallet and his medication, according to the sheriff's office.

Brooks' wife waited until today to report him missing because she said she felt he would return home.

Deputies checked with area hospitals, with no available, and a "missing endangered be on the lookout" bulletin was issued.

Brooks is black and stands 6 feet tall and weighs 225 pounds. Investigators did not have a clothing description.

Anyone with information about Brooks' whereabouts can call the sheriff's office at (941) 747-3011.
