MANATEE — A Manatee man has been arrested on charges of exploiting a 77-year-old man by taking payment for a job constructing a lanai that he never completed, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies arrested Shaun Joseph Sacco Sullivan, 25, on Wednesday, on several charges after the victim said he paid Sullivan hundreds of dollars to construct a lanai in his backyard. However, Sullivan did not do the job, and did not return the victim’s phone calls, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sullivan had previously been fined by Manatee County on accusations that he was operating as an unlicensed contractor, but he never paid the $500 fine, the sheriff’s report stated.
Detectives arrested Sullivan on nine counts of grand theft, two counts of scheme to defraud and two counts of exploitation of the elderly. He was being held in the Manatee County jail on $160,000 bond.
