Man hit with machete after argument in Palmetto

MANATEE — A man received a four-inch wound to his lower back after he was struck with a machete, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The man was outside in the 2400 block of Sixth Avenue East in Palmetto at 9:42 p.m. Friday when he became involved in an argument with two other men — 24-year-old Alberto Perez and 27-year-old Roberto Vazquez

Perez and Vazquez attempted to stab the victim with a knife and a machete. He ran, but was struck with the machete, according to the report.

The man refused treatment from paramedics for his wound. Deputies found the machete behind the residence next to a tree, as well as a handgun.

Perez remained in jail Saturday on a charge of aggravated battery on a $10,000 bond. Vazquez was charged with aggravated assault and also remained in jail on a $10,000 bond.
