BRADENTON — Police arrested two women on prostitution charges after they arrived to meet an undercover Bradenton police detective who responded to Internet advertisements and offered them money in exchange for sex.
Detectives called the women, who had posted their profiles on the advertising website backpage.com, and set up meetings in Bradenton with them.
In two separate meetings, Katrina Louise Mitchell, 19, of Bradenton, and Monica Marie Thompson, 30, of Sarasota, arrived at the meeting points on May 31 and agreed while under surveillance by police to have sex for money.
Both women were arrested on prostitution charges and taken to the Manatee County jail. The women have since been released, Mitchell on $500 bail, and Thompson on $120.
