Bradenton attorney disbarred for putting third party funds in his bank account

BRADENTON — A Bradenton attorney was recently disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court following a March 25 court order, according to a released statement from The Florida Bar.

W. Ben Stewart, 4909 Manatee Ave. W., was employed by a Pennsylvania law firm to work as an office manager and closing agent for a title company in Sarasota, according to the statement.

Stewart reportedly disbursed money for his own use and commingled third party funds into his personal bank account in order obtain interest before returning the principal. Stewart was in charge of money earmarked for real estate closings.

Stewart was admitted to practice law in 2003.
