Hurricane Center: Chances drop even more than system will turn scary

MANATEE - It appears the first tropical storm of the Atlantic system will not develop out of a low pressure system now about 450 miles southeast of the North Carolina coast, the National Hurricane Center said this morning.

There is now a 10 percent chance of the system of showers, thunderstorms and gale force winds becoming a subtropical cyclone over the next 48 hours. On Tuesday, officials said there was a 20 percent chance.

The low is driving north-northwestward and a turn to the northeast is expected over the next couple of days.
